You simply need to identify what type of writer you are, decide what you want to do with your gift (yes, it is a gift), then start out on your path toward financial freedom.

There are many types of writers and now that the Internet dominates the business world, there are even more opportunities than ever.

Here is a basic plan to help you get going.

1. Acknowledge your calling.

You were put on this earth by God to accomplish a particular purpose. All of your past education, environment, influences and experiences have been valuable parts of your total preparation.

Face it, you are called to write and you can't help it. You have to write.

Your first task is to determine WHAT you want to write.

(But then, being a writer, you can pretty much write anything you set your mind to, right?)

2. Develop the Right Mindset.

Now that you realize you CAN write, let's decide to get the right attitude and mindset about what you'll be doing.

Written words are very powerful so it's important to always be encouraging to others to bring positive into the worlds of others. The world is full of way too much negativism, death and destruction.

Decide early that you will only use your very powerful gift to serve God and others in a way that builds up others around you.

3. Choose a Type of Writing.

Here are several ways to make money as a professional writer:

Write e-books for yourself - fiction or non-fiction
• Ghost write e-books for others - fiction or non-fiction
• Write print books - fiction or non-fiction
• Ghost write print books for others - fiction or non-fiction
• Blog for yourself
• Get paid to blog for others
• Write articles for others
• Become a professional social media expert

And as the Internet expands, keep your mind open to the demand it creates. Several of these positions didn't even exist just a few years ago.

4. Invest in Yourself.

Because public education has been free for so long, people take it for granted and expect all education to be free.

But that's not realistic if you want to do something more than just get a generic education. If you want to be a brain surgeon, you have to pay for expensive education in order to make the money.

So decide now if you will do what it takes to invest in yourself to be able to produce the work that is buried deep inside you and that is yearning to be born.

• Tools
• Mentors
• Community

5. Build a Team.

If you want to accomplish anything in life, it will happen if you surround yourself with experts and encouragers who can provide the expertise you don't have.

Don't know how to build a web page? Find a webmaster.

Don't know how to market your finished e-book? Find a marketer.

Don't know how to keep track of all the money you'll make? Find a bookkeeper.

6. Follow a Mentor.

A good mentor gives you the short-cut to success that will get you up and going. He can show you what to do and more importantly, what NOT to do.

Wasting time trying something that won't work is not only wasteful of your time and resources, but the cost of lost opportunity can be huge.

While you are busy pursuing something that professionals know won't work, you could have been doing something that could have profited you greatly.

All successful people have mentors. And there are many types of mentors for different subjects.

7. Set Goals.

If you don't set goals to learn and at least write something small every day, you'll never conquer that mountain.
