Bill & Kathy Coons
We are Bill and Kathy Coons from Crossville, TN. Most of our lives were spent in upstate NY. We moved to TN upon Bill's retirement from the 'corporate world ' in 2003. We believe that our knowledge, wisdom and talents are all gifts from God that are to be shared with others. That is why we are excited to be a part of Educating for Success. Kathy's role throughout her working career has been to encourage and motivate others. She worked with Developmentally Delayed children as a Teaching Assistant and with adults in Group Home settings as well as Job Supervisor in their workplace. It was her passion to see these people achieving and succeeding beyond their supposed limitations. She also worked for seveal years as the Outreach Minister at our church. Once again, her role was to bring hope, encouragement and direction to those that were financially and emotionally drained. We both led many Christian Retreats helping others to find God's purpose for their lives. When we moved to TN, our eyes and hearts were opened to a new tragedy. Day after day, we would hear retirees say, "I wish I had..." and "I always wanted to..." Kathy realized that people get so involved in existing day to day that they don't plan their lives. Hence, she started writing Enrichment Guides. The main purpose of these writings is to help people to think about their lives and to turn their hopes and dreams into reality in order that they end life saying "I did it" instead of "I always wanted to". We both come from families that were involved in woodworking and carpentry. We grew to have a deep appreciation and love for wood as we watched our Grandfathers and Fathers create and build. To us, each piece of wood has its own unique character. Part of the fun of woodworking is deciding what to create out of each piece. Bill enjoys spending his time turning what was once a hobby into a business. We sell our products at local Craft shows and on our websites. The photo of us on this site is a portrait which Bill cut out of wood. Bill is part of Project Freedom which is a group of Scrollsaw cutters that are cutting portraits of the Fallen Heroes in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. They donate the finished cuttings to the family members of the soldiers. Bill is passionate about teaching others the true art of woodworking. He especially loves teaching children and is excited as they are about their creations. .
